A Thoughtful Blend for Today’s Child, Rooted in Respect, Freedom, and Science
At Blossom, we are often asked:
“What makes your approach different, are you Montessori?”
The answer is: we follow the EYFS curriculum, enriched by the latest neuroscience research. Our approach is Reggio Emilia-inspired, and thoughtfully influenced by both Montessori and Pikler. We’ve intentionally combined the most meaningful elements of each to meet the needs of today’s children in a modern, multicultural world.
🌸 Why We Are Primarily Reggio Emilia
We chose Reggio Emilia as our core approach because it offers:
- 100 Languages of Expression — allowing children to communicate through art, movement, nature, construction, storytelling, and more
- Educators as co-learners and researchers, not just guides
- Learning deeply rooted in relationships, environment, and community
Reggio gives us the flexibility to follow children’s ideas with curiosity, to create projects around their wonderings, and to evolve with the times, not just follow a set method.
🌱 Inspired by Montessori, Adapted for Blossom
We hold deep respect for the Montessori philosophy. It has shaped global early education with its emphasis on:
- Hands-on learning and real materials
- Independence and concentration
- Respect for the child’s rhythm and capabilities
These ideas remain a part of our DNA. At Blossom, you’ll find:
- Child-sized environments that promote autonomy
- Real-life, purposeful activities that nurture self-care and confidence
- Calm, respectful routines that honour each child’s individuality
But as education evolves, so do we. While Montessori gives children choice within a structured framework, our Reggio-inspired model allows learning to emerge from the child’s voice, questions, and context - every day.
🧠 More Than Reggio and Montessori: A Holistic Approach
Our unique Blossom philosophy blends:
📚 EYFS curriculum – to ensure developmental milestones, structure, and safeguarding
🧠 Neuroscience – to support learning through emotional security, rich sensory input, and responsive interaction
🌀 Reggio Emilia – for freedom, creativity, collaboration, and meaningful expression
🌿 Pikler – for respectful caregiving and natural motor development through free movement
🎓 Montessori – for purposeful materials, independence, and hands-on real-life learning
This blended approach aligns with The Book of Sustainable Education’s call for education that is inclusive, ethical, child-led, and future-ready.
🔍 So, Why Not Just Montessori?
We are inspired by Montessori, but we believe today’s children need:
- More room for self-expression beyond predefined materials
- More collaboration and group learning
- Environments that evolve with their questions
- An educational culture where children are seen as citizens, not only learners
Our world has changed. Education must change with it, and at Blossom, it does.
🌍 Blossom's Approach at a Glance
At Blossom, we are not defined by one method.
We are inspired, evolving, and intentional, just like the children we serve.
We take the best of Reggio, Montessori, Pikler approaches - and make it Blossom.
Because education isn’t one-size-fits-all.
It’s personal, purposeful, and full of possibility.
