Crying. Drama. Tantrum. Sounds familiar? The first week of term back after a break can be both stressful and exciting for the children and for the parents. At Blossom Nurseries in Dubai we are trying to support our little ones and their parents as much as we can in this difficult time. By knowing and putting in practice some of the ways of settling your child into nursery, you can make the whole process less painful. Here are some tips that you can follow:
Stay positive; your child is able to feel and mirror your emotional state Take time to talk to your child’s teacher about the routine of your child during the break Talk to your child about going back to the nursery; mentioning his/her friends helps a lot Give some time to your child to resettle in the nursery; it may be possible that he/she needs more time for that after a long break
Make sure you say goodbye to your child and let them know you will be coming back later Remember, the more confidence and comfort you can model, the more your child will understand there is no reason to cry or to be upset. At Blossom Nurseries in Dubai we encourage the parents to call us after 20 minutes or to even ring us every 20 minutes to make sure that their child has resettled in the classroom. You should never feel bad or sorry about asking for this – your child is the most important person in your life, and at Blossom we don’t mind reassuring a worried mum or dad!
