Blossom Summer Camp Week 5 - Discovering Dinosaurs

Dinosaurs are one of the strongest and most captivating tools used to get children interested in topics like science and biology! Children's imagination and creativity is sparked through learning about the evolution of our planet.

This past week, our children became Paleontologists (people who study dinosaurs) and explored a world of species who roamed the earth 65 million years ago! They got the opportunity to expand their vocabulary and learn new fun words such as 'extinct, herbivore, carnivore, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops', etc.

The learning experience this week took place through playful hands on experiences such as building caves, making volcanoes, and excavating dinosaur skeletons! The children learned about prehistoric rocks and plants which developed their scientific thinking. The vast number of dinosaur species allowed younger children to learn concepts such as size, shape and texture. Discovering their habitats and survival mechanisms allowed them to plunge into a vast fascinating world of 'meat-eaters vs. plant eaters.' Creating footprints while stomping around like a Stegosaurus and cracking frozen dinosaur eggs was all part of a thrilling experience.

Our Summer Camp fun is not over just yet! Stay tuned for more science next week with "Mad Scientist - Space Exploration."
